M. Bowes Hamill, M.D.
A
graduate of Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Hamill
completed his residency training at Baylor College
of Medicine as well. Following residency, he completed
two additional years of fellowship training, the
first year in cornea and external disease at Baylor
College of Medicine, and the second year in anterior
segment, corneal and cataract surgery at the Johns
Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Hamill
is an associate professor of ophthalmology and
has been a member of the Baylor faculty since
1983. He has performed corneal and refractive
surgery since that time. Dr. Hamill has authored
more than 40 research articles, book chapters,
and abstracts in ophthalmic literature. Currently,
he is active both in national and international
ophthalmology, serving as a member or chair of
several committees of the American Academy of
Ophthalmology. He is the Past President of the
Texas Ophthalmological Association. Within the
Department of Ophthalmology, Dr. Hamill is involved
in both medical student and resident education,
serving as Director of Medical Student Education
in Ophthalmology for Baylor College of Medicine,
and Former Deputy Chief of Service at Ben Taub
General Hospital. In recent years, he has been
named as one of Houston’s Best Doctors by
Inside Houston magazine.
